Lubka Lodge sits on the highest spot of the village of Lučatín, looking out over the whole valley. Three floors of warm wood in classic Tatra style — with the space to be together, and the corners to be alone.

The area

A 728 km² back garden

The Low Tatras National Park starts right behind the lodge — one of the most untouched natural areas in Europe. The lively Donovaly resort is a 35-minute drive, Banská Bystrica's cafés and squares are 15 minutes away, and the villages of Slovenská Ľupča, Ľubietová and Brusno are right around the corner.

A night out in Banská Bystrica

The capital of central Slovakia, 15 minutes away. Cafés, bars and surprisingly good nightlife.

Ski your way

You're right in the middle of it — 13 ski areas within an hour. The nearest slope is 15 minutes away, lively Donovaly 25, and the high, snow-sure Chopok slopes just 35 minutes via the south side — so when snow runs low in Donovaly, the best snow is still close. See our own ski map below.

Gray Bear, one of the most beautiful courses in Central Europe, 20 minutes from the lodge.

Raft the Hron

The river runs through the valley below the lodge — a perfect summer afternoon.

Your hosts

A Dutch-Slovak family chalet

Lubka Lodge is the family chalet of Denisa and Gerard, a Slovak-Dutch couple of entrepreneurs living and working in the Netherlands. They built the lodge in 2006, at the foot of the mountains where Denisa's roots lie.

The interior is their personal collection, gathered over the years: a warm mix of midcentury design and cabin style, French earthenware and cabinets, Japanese joinery — and the kind of kitchenware that makes a cook's heart beat faster.

When you arrive, our local host Michal welcomes you and makes sure you settle in. And the map with our favourite walks and places? It's ready and waiting on the table.
